2. Equipment.
A certain amount of new oppuratus and chemicals have arrived from England, mostly Young Plan" stores, and there is a considerable quantity of now material on order. The delivery period is still lengthy, however, and it will be some time before the Laboratory is properly re-equipped with modern apparatus. The Electrical Officer of the Public Works Department has again beau of the greatest service in maintaining the equipment and even making apparatus for certain special tests.
3. Staff
Mr. E. Collins, M.A., F.8.1.C., Assistant Government Chemist, joined the staff on transfer from Mauritius on 26th September, 1947.
Mr. S. W. Wong, Assistant Chemist (Temporary), joined the stuff on 10th July, 1947.
Mr. R. (). Barradas, Laboratory Assistant, was promoted from Sampler (Temporary) with effect from 17th May, 1947.
Mr. F. de S. Osorio, Sampler (Temporary) joined the staff on 25th November, 1947.
Mr. D. J. Mackenzie, Assistant Chemist, resigned from the Service on 17th May, 1947, and proceeded to the United Kingdom to study.
Mr. Wong Chor Tung, J.C.S. Class 3, joined the staff on 19th November, 1947.
