MINUTES.

The Minutes of the previous meeting of the Council were confirmed.

PAPERS.

THE COLONIAL SECRETARY, by command of H.E. the Governor, laid upon the table the following papers:

Order under section 210 of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903, relating to blasting at low tide on the foreshore to south-west of Quarry Bay Inland Lot No. 4.

By-laws under section 16 of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903, relating to Food-preserving establishments.

By-laws under section 16 of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903, relating to Bake-houses.

By-laws under section 16 of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903, relating to Offensive trades.

By-laws under section 16 of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903, relating to Eating-houses.

By-laws under section 16 of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903, relating to Aerated Water Manufactories.

Regulations under section 3 of the Miscellaneous Licences Ordinance, 1933, relating to the extension of hours in respect of Public dance halls.

Regulations under the Liquors Ordinance, 1931, altering fees and conditions of Licences.

Report of the Committee appointed to consider the Breeding of Pigs and Poultry in the New Territories (Sessional Paper No. 5 of 1934).

FINANCE COMMITTEE'S REPORT.

THE COLONIAL SECRETARY, by command of H.E. the Governor, laid upon the table the report of the Finance Committee, No. 16 of November 8th, 1934, and moved that it be adopted.

THE COLONIAL TREASURER seconded, and this was agreed to.

CREMATION ORDINANCE, 1934.

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL moved the second reading of a Bill intituled "An Ordinance to make provision for the cremation of the dead."

THE COLONIAL SECRETARY seconded, and the Bill was read a second time. Council then went into Committee to consider the Bill clause by clause. Upon Council resuming,

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL reported that the Bill had passed through Committee without amendment and moved the third reading.

THE COLONIAL SECRETARY seconded, and the Bill was read a third time and passed.

SAND ORDINANCE, 1934.

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL moved the second reading of a Bill intituled "An Ordinance to protect the sand supplies of the Colony and to regulate the sale of sand".

THE COLONIAL SECRETARY seconded, and the Bill was read a second time. Council then went into Committee to consider the Bill clause by clause. Upon Council resuming,

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL reported that the Bill had passed through Committee without amendment and moved the third reading.

THE COLONIAL SECRETARY seconded, and the Bill was read a third time and passed.

FOREIGN JUDGMENTS (RECIPROCAL ENFORCEMENT)

ORDINANCE, 1934.

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL.―In connection with the third Bill on the agenda, with the permission of Your Excellency and the Council, I would ask for the postponement of any further proceedings in connection therewith. I have ascertained that the Secretary of State requires a draft submitted to him before the Bill is passed into law.

This was agreed to.

ADJOURNMENT.

FINANCE COMMITTEE.

Following the Council, a meeting of the Finance Committee was held, the Colonial Secretary presiding.

Votes totalling $2,200, contained in Message No. 17 from H.E. the Governor, were approved.
