The Council meets this day at 2.30 P.M., pursuant to adjournment.

The Minutes of the Meeting held on Thursday, the 2nd September, are read and confirmed.

The further consideration in Committee of the Bill to consolidate and amend the Ordinances relating to the Assessment and Collection of Rates is resumed, and, after amendment, is passed, bearing the Title of An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to consolidate and amend the Ordinances relating to the Assessment and Collection of Rates in the Colony, being No. 12 of 1875.

The Crown Remedies Bill is then reported with amendments, and passed, bearing the Title of An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice of the Legislative Council thereof, for consolidating and amending the Law relating to the speedy recovery of Crown Debts for Rents and for Assessments, Fees and Forfeitures, being No. 13 of 1875.

The Bill to amend "The Company's Ordinance, 1865" is read a second time, and the Council resolves itself into Committee upon the clauses of the Bill.

On the motion of the Honourable WILLIAM KESWICK, seconded by the Acting Colonial Secretary, the consideration of the Bill in Committee is adjourned.

The Bill for the General Register of Marriages celebrated in Hongkong is read a second time, and the Council goes into Committee on the clauses of the Bill. The Bill is discussed clause by clause, and various alterations and amendments are made. Finally the Bill is committed, and passed, bearing the Title of An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to provide a General Register of Marriages celebrated in Hongkong, being No. 14 of 1875.

His Excellency adjourns the Council at 4 P.M. sine die.
