VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF HONGKONG. No. 3 OF 1864.
FRIDAY, 26TH FEBRUARY, 1864.
PRESENT:
His Excellency the GOVERNOR, and all the Members.
The Council met to-day by special Summons.
The Minutes of the Council held on the 16th January, were read and approved.
The Jury List for the year commencing from the 1st March, 1864, was revised and agreed to,─75 of the names therein being designated as Special Jurors.
In the course of revision it was unanimously resolved, that Chemists and Druggists should be exempted from serving as Jurors, and such names on the List were accordingly struck out.
The Governor in moving that the Bill for the establishment of a Mint be read a second time, observed that Honorable Members were already in possession of all the information which he could afford in explanation of the proposed undertaking.
Question put and carried.
The Bill was read a second time, and the Council went into Committee upon the said Bill; and after the adoption of certain verbal amendments which were agreed to by the Council,─
His Excellency moved that this Bill as amended do pass, and that the Title be─"An Ordinance for establishing a Mint in the Colony of Hongkong."
Question put and carried, the Ordinance being numbered "No.2 of 1864." The Council adjourned sine die.
