Present:

His Excellency the Governor,

The Honorable the Chief Justice,

The Honorable the Acting Colonial Secretary,

The Honorable the Colonial Treasurer,

The Honorable the Surveyor General,

The Honorable the Chief Magistrate,

The Honorable George Lyall, Esquire.

The Acting Attorney General was present by special summons.

The Minutes of last Council were read and approved.

The Acting Colonial Secretary made an observation in respect of entering in the Minutes of the Council the subject matter of Letters which are not addressed to the Governor in Council such as that referred to in the last minutes from the Honorable the Colonial Treasurer. He considered it to be a bad precedent and suggested that, except in peculiar circumstances, any letters that may have reference to the Council, should be addressed according by It was also agreed, that for the reading of Document, the consent of the Council should be first obtained.

Consideration being given to the remaining clauses of the Draft Ordinance "for checking the spread "of Venereal Diseases" they were read seriatim, amended and passed; and it was Resolved, that the Ordinance as amended be published in the Government Gazette for general information. The Clerk of Councils was directed accordingly.

Council adjourned till Tuesday the 24th November, 1857, at Noon.
