Present:

His Excellency the Governor,

The Honorable the Chief Justice,

The Honorable the Acting Colonial Secretary,

The Honorable the Colonial Treasurer,

The Honorable the Chief Magistrate,

The Honorable George Lyall, Esquire.

The Acting Attorney General was present by special summons.

The minutes of Council held on the 28th August were read and approved.

His Excellency laid on the Table a Warrant under Her majesty's Sign manual confirming the appointment of the Honorable Joseph Jardine, Esquire, The Honorable Henry Tudor Davies, Esquire, and the Honorable George Lyall, Esquire, as members of the Legislative Council; and also, appointing Charles St George Cleverly, Esquire, Surveyor General, a Member of the said Council Mr. Cleverly being in attendance was sworn in, and took his seat at the Council Board.

The Third reading of the market Ordinance was postponed until the revisal of the Draft market By Laws.

Read a first time, and ordered to be published in the Government Gazette for general information, a Draft Ordinance "to amend Ordinance No. 3 of 1849."

Read a first time, and ordered to be circulated among the Honorable Members, Draft Ordinance "for the Licensing and Regulation of Chinese Passage Brokers."

Read a first time, and ordered to be circulated among Honorable Members; Draft Prostitution Ordinance.

Council adjourned for Wednesday the 21st Instant, at 1 o'clock P.M.
