The Minutes of the last Council were read and approved.
His Excellency The acting Governor brought to the notice of the Council a Draft ordinance for checking desertion from the Naval and Military Forces stationed in the Colony and after discussing its provisions and the remarks of the Acting Attorney General, it was Resolved that the Draft as amended should be again placed before the Acting Attorney General for his further consideration.
The proposed ordinance "for the regulation of Seamen" with the Acting Attorney General's observations thereon was further considered and it was Resolved that the same should be sent round to Members.
Read and considered a Despatch from Earl Grey, No. 268 of 18th December last, together with its Enclosure being certain observations by Mr. Rogers on the Jury ordinance, No. 4 of 1851. Also the Opinion of the acting Attorney General on the objections printed out by Mr. Rogers. It was Resolved, that these Papers should be brought before Council at its next meeting.
