The Honorable The Attorney General.
David Jardine, and Joseph Frost Edger, Esquires, were also present having been specially summoned to attend this meeting.
The Council met today by special summons.
The minutes of the last Council were read and approved.
Read a Despatch from The Right Honorable The Earl Grey, No. 176 of the 13th April last, and The Queen's Warrants appointing David Jardine and Joseph Frost Edger, Esquires, members of the Legislative Council of Hongkong.
These Gentlemen were then sworn in by The Honorable The Lieutenant Governor, and took their seats at the Council Board.
Read a Notification to be published in the Government Gazette, intimating the appointment of The Honorable David Jardine and Joseph Frost Edger, Esquires.
Read a Despatch from The Right Honorable The Earl Grey, No. 177 of 14th April last, conveying Her Majesty's Confirmation of Colonial ordinance No. 1 of 1850.
Read a Proclamation making the above confirmation known to the inhabitants.
