Present:

His Excellency The Governor,

The Honorable The Chief Justice,

The Honorable The Attorney General,

The Honorable The Colonial Treasurer.

The minutes of the last Council having been read and approved.

The subject of the ordinance read a first time on the 26th October last, was again taken into consideration, and the following two Draft ordinances, in which the provisions of that ordinance are embodied, were read for the first time.

An ordinance for Her Majesty's subjects within the Dominions of the Emperor of China, or within any Ship or Vessel at a Distance of not more than one Hundred miles from the Coast of China, entitled "An ordinance to regulate the Jurisdiction of Magistrates and "Courts of Session in Hongkong over offences committed without the Colony by "British Subjects; and for the better carrying into effect the Treaties between Great "Britain and China."

And Colonial ordinance, entitled "An ordinance to provide for the more effective carrying "out of the Treaties between Great Britain and China in so far as relates to Chinese "Subjects within the Colony of Hongkong."
