Minutes of the Legislative Council of Hongkong, for the half year ending 30th June, 1849.

Present:

His Excellency The Governor,

The Honorable The Chief Justice,

The Honorable The Attorney General,

The Honorable The Colonial Treasurer.

The Minutes of the last Council were read and approved.

The Right Honorable The Earl Grey having approved of the Draft ordinance referred to in the Minutes of Council of the 1st and 8th June 1848, Copy of which had been submitted to His Lordship in Governor's Despatch No. 30 of the 10th of the same month, and it appearing since advisable to make various alterations and introduce certain other clauses therein, a Draft of the ordinance with the proposed changes, entitled "An "ordinance to repeal the ordinance No. 6 of 1847, entitled 'An ordinance for extending "the summary jurisdiction of Police Magistrates and Justices of the Peace within the "Colony of Hong Kong; and to substitute other Provisions in the place of those "contained in the said ordinance" (which had been previously sent round to Members) was read for the first time, and considered; and it was Resolved that the same should be brought forward for re-consideration at the next meeting of the Council.
