The Honorable the Colonial Treasurer.

The Minutes of the last Council were read and approved.

Read for the first time Colonial Ordinance No. 1 of 1848, entitled "An ordinance to repeal "the ordinance No. 6 of 1847, entitled 'An ordinance for extending the summary "'jurisdiction of the Police Magistrates and Justices of the Peace within the Colony of "'Hongkong,' and to substitute other provisions in the place of those contained in the "said latter ordinance."

Read a letter from Mr. Hillier Chief Magistrate No. 24 of 31st May, bringing under the notice of Government the present Police Regulation, relative to Pawnbrokers, Chinese holders of Spirit Licenses, &c., consideration of which was postponed for the present.
