The Honorable the Acting Attorney General.
The Council did not meet on Thursday the 22nd Instant in consequence of special notice sent round to that effect.
The Minutes of the last Council were read and approved.
His Excellency the Governor read a Despatch from Earl Grey No. 90 of 8th May last, disallowing Ordinance No. 1 of 1847, "for Licensing Markets and for preventing disorders therein."
Read for the first time Ordinance No. 4 of 1847, entitled "An ordinance to Repeal and "amend the ordinance No. 1of 1847, entitled 'An ordinance for licensing markets and "'for preventing disorders therein,'" which was ordered to be sent round to Members.
Read for the first time Consular Ordinance No. 2 of 1847, entitled, "An ordinance for the "better maintenance of order among British subjects residing in or resorting to the "Dominions of the Emperor of China, and for the more effectual Expression and "punishment of Crimes committed by British subjects within the said Dominions," which was ordered to be sent round to Members.
