The Minutes of the last Council were read and approved.
With reference to the Ordinance read a first time at the last meeting of Council entitled "An Ordinance for extending the summary jurisdiction of Police Magistrates, and Justices of the Peace within the Colony of Hongkong," It was resolved that the publication of this Ordinance be postponed, and that a copy be submitted to Her Majesty's Secretary of State for the Colonies.
Read a second time, and passed the Ordinance with amendments, introduced in accordance with Despatches from the Home Government, to Ordinance No. of 1846 entitled "An Ordinance for the future care, charge, and construction of Streets, Drains, Drainage, and sewers of the Town of Victoria, and the vicinity thereof," which was ordered to lie over until the streets and drains are completed.
