The question of the disposal of land in the Colony was taken into consideration.

Read Letter and Inclosures 1. 2. 3. & 4. from the Land Committee No. 2 of the 13th January 1844.
It was Resolved thereon that the Report contained in the Land Committee's letter and its Inclosures No. 2 of January 13th 1844 should be adopted with the exception of that part thereof relating to the suburban lots of ground which was reserved for future consideration.
Read and approved of Letter to the Chief Magistrate respecting the burning of a Salt Junk at Check-choo the disposal of certain persons charged therewith No. 13 of the 10th January 1844.

Read and approved of letter to the Land Officer authorizing him to allow Dr. Feliciano to retain possession of the land he petitioned for on certain terms mentioned therein No. 25 17th January 1844.
Read Letter from the Land Officer No. 8 of the 16th January 1844 containing an Estimate of the Expenses of the repair of the Temporary Church.
Read and approved of letter to the Land Officer authorizing the repair of the same No. 27 of the 17 January 1844.
Read Letter from the Honorable the Chief Magistrate recommending the appointment of two additional overseers for the prisoners No. 21 of the 15th January 1844.
Read and approved of letter in reply to above authorizing the step recommended No. 29 of the 17 January 1844.
Read Letter from the Land Officer respecting Mr. Bird's house required to be pulled down for the improvement of the Queen's Road No. 7. 16 January 1844 Mr. Bird's claim for compensation reserved for future consideration. The question of the discontinuance of the cultivation of rice in the Wong nei chun Valley was taken into consideration whereupon it was resolved that the Honorable Major Caine, Mr. Gutzlaff, and Mr. Gordon should be a Committee and communicate with the Inhabitants of Wong nei chun respecting the value of the lands prohibited from being cultivated as rice grounds.

Read the draft of an Ordinance No. 1 intituled "An Ordinance to render Her Majesty's "Subjects within the dominions of the Emperor of China or within any ship or vessel at a "distance of not more than 100 miles from the Coast of China subject in all respects to the "English Law and to extend the Jurisdiction of the Court of Justice at Hongkong over the "same," which was ordered to be circulated to the British Members of Council for consideration.

Read letter to the Governor of Macao No. 465 of the 6th December 1843.
Read and approved Table of Fees to be taken in the Chief Magistrate's Office which were ordered to be published for general information.
The Honorable the Chief Magistrate represented the necessity of a place of confinement for disorderly seamen and others whereupon It was Resolved that Mr. Gordon the Land Officer should be instructed to take immediate steps for the construction of a look up House with a suitable proportion of Stocks &c.
