主席報告 CHAIRMAN'S STATEMENT

60th Anniversary

It has been 60 years since the Hong Kong Government awarded the Company a franchise to operate bus services in Kowloon and the New Territories. The franchise was extended in 1972 to include the operation of some cross-harbour routes. Over the period of 60 years, the size of our fleet of buses and the number of routes operated under the franchise have grown considerably, and we are now the largest privately owned bus company in the world serving one city.

In keeping with our responsibility as a major transport company, we decided during the year to further improve the quality and the scope of our

service to the public by means of good management

practice. To this end, we have formulated four statements expressing our corporate mission:

ADAPTING TO CHANGE

These statements formalise the goals of our Company and provide a focus for KMB management, particularly in the establishment of improved relationship with our passengers and our

own staff. It is pleased to find that all members of

staff are committed to work towards these goals.

Results For 1992

The Company's bus operating profit attributable to shareholders for the financial year ended 31st December,1992, after a transfer of $0.84 million from the Development Fund in accordance with the provisions of the Scheme of Control by the

Government, amounted to $330.5 million

(1991:$298.3 million). This represents an increase of 10.8 percent over 1991.

六十週年誌慶

六十年前,本公司獲香港政府批出專利權,在 九龍及新界地區經營巴士服務,及至一九七二 年,經營範圍更擴展至包括部份過海隧道巴士 路線。六十年來,本公司專利車隊及行駛路線 均有大幅增長。今天本公司已成為世界上服務 於單一城市內最大規模之私營巴士公司。

為求履行本公司作為一間主要公共交通機構之 責任,於年內本公司決定從管理手法方面着 手,進一步提高本公司向大眾市民所提供服務 之質素及範圍。就此,本公司訂出四句標語作 為本公司業務上之宗旨:

熱誠服務

關懷大眾 群策群力 與時共進

此等標語不但為本公司訂下目標,更使九巴在 管理上有所取向,其中尤以改善乘客與公司員 工之間關係方面為然。而上下員工均致力達致 此等目標,本公司深感欣慰。

一九九二年業績

截至一九九二年十二月三十一日止財政年度 經計入根據政府之盈利管制計劃規定撥自發展 基金之港幣八十四萬元後,本公司股東應佔之 巴士經營盈利為港幣三億三千五十萬元(一九 九一年為港幣二億九千八百三十萬元),與一九 九一年比較,增幅為百分之十點八。
