FARE ADJUSTMENT

In November, 1989, the Company applied for a 19% fare increase to take effect on 1st February, 1990. The Government allowed an increase of 15.3% effective from 18th March, 1990.

For 1991, additional revenue is required to offset inflation and the increase in operating

costs. An application for a 23% fare

adjustment to be implemented on 18th

March, 1991, was submitted to the

Government in October, 1990. This

application was complicated by the fact that

the price of diesel rose sharply after the

outbreak of the Gulf crisis in August of that

year. The Gulf War cease-fire which went into effect on 28th February, 1991 is expected to

result in a gradual reduction in the diesel

price. Consequently a smaller fare adjustment may be sufficient.

On 26th March, 1991, the Government approved a fare increase of 14.7% to be

implemented as from the 31st of the same month.

EXTENSION OF FRANCHISE

The franchise currently runs to 31st August, 1997. An application for a 2 year extension of the franchise i.e.until 31st August, 1999 was submitted to Government in April, 1989.

Another application to further extend the

franchise i.e. until 31st August, 2001 was submitted in March, 1991.

The Company is currently awaiting

approval on both applications. In the meantime KMB has received a formal

assurance from Government that it does not

doubt that KMB is capable of maintaining a proper and efficient service as required by the Public Bus Services Ordinance.

車費調整

一九八九年十一月,本公司提交申請, 要求由一九九零年二月一日起增加車費 百分之十九。政府則批准由一九九零年 三月十八日起增加車費百分之十五點三。

在一九九一年度,本公司需要增加收入

以彌補通貨膨脹及經營成本增加。本公司 已於一九九零年十月向政府申請由一九 九一年三月十八日起調整車費百分之 二十三。由於波斯灣危機於一九九零年 八月爆發,導致柴油價格急升,使申請變 得更為複雜。波斯灣戰爭已於一九九一年 二月二十八日停火,預期柴油價格會逐步 回落。因此,較小幅度之車費調整或已

足夠。

於一九九一年三月二十六日,政府批准 增加車費百分之十四點七,並於該月 三十一日起實施。

延長專利權

本公司現時之專利權有效期至一九九七年 八月三十一日止。於一九八九年四月 本公司已向政府申請延長專利權兩年至 一九九九年八月三十一日。另一項申請 再延長該專利權至二零零一年八月 三十一日亦已於一九九一年三月提交。 本公司現正等候此兩項申請的批准。 同時,九巴亦獲得政府鄭重承認它們並不 懷疑九巴有能力依據「公共巴士服務條例」 的規定繼續維持優良及有效之服務。
