KMB-MTR INTEGRATED TICKETING SYSTEM

The KMB-MTR Integrated Ticketing System was introduced on 5th August, 1989. 100 sets of Auto Fare Collection

(AFC) machines have been installed in

buses operating 13 MTR feeder routes.

By means of this system, passengers can use MTR stored value tickets to

pay their fares on KMB buses. No

serious difficulty has been encountered

by our Company in the daily operation

of the system. On average,23,000

passengers (23.6% of the total

passengers on the 13 feeder routes)

prefer to use the AFC machines, which

provide them with an additional fare

payment method and greater

convenience. The system is currently

under evaluation and the possibility of

installing AFC machines on other MTR feeder routes is under consideration.
