Another step forward in providing the public with a better service was made with the introduction of air- conditioned small single-deck buses. In 1989, six such routes were introduced. These routes provide a higher level of

service to areas where demand does

not warrant the use of normal hight capacity buses.

Due to the critical and taxing road conditions on Route Twisk, specially designed new double-deck buses were

deployed on Route No. 51 to replace

the previous low capacity older single-

deck buses. This has greatly improved

the level of service on this route. 225 new buses entered service

during the year comprising 193 3-axle double-deck buses, 8 2-axle double- deck and 24 air-conditioned small

single-deck buses. 146 older vehicles. were withdrawn and at the end of

1989 the licensed fleet totalled 2,824

buses.

大市民提供更佳服務之另一貢獻。本公司

在一九八九年開闢六條上述冷氣巴士

路線。對於需求仍不致於須使用普通高載

客量巴士之地區,此等路線可提供更

高水準之服務。

由於荃錦公路需求殷切及道路交通

繁忙,五十一號線已改用特別設計之新

雙層巴士,以代替以前載客量較低之舊式

單層巴士。此舉大大改善了該路線之

服務水準。

本年內本公司有二百二十五輛新巴士

加入服務,包括一百九十三輛三軸雙層

巴士,八輛兩軸雙層巴士及二十四輛小型

單層冷氣巴士。而一百四十六輛較舊之

巴士已被淘汰,在一九八九年底,持牌之

車隊共有二千八百二十四輛巴士。
