主席報告
FARE ADJUSTMENT
Additional revenue was required to
offset inflation and increases in
operating costs in 1990. An application
for a 19% fare adjustment to be
implemented on Ist February, 1990
was submitted to Government on 29th __
November, 1989. KMB was granted an
average adjustment of 15.3% with
effect from 18th March, 1990. Taking
into account the anticipated reduction in ridership, it is expected that the above fare adjustment will only give rise to an estimated net increase in revenue of 12.5%. To cope with the situation, actions are being taken to minimise operating costs and rationalise the bus network in order to achieve higher productivity and efficiency.
EXTENSION OF FRANCHISE
The franchise currently runs to 31st August, 1997. An application, which is awaiting approval from Government,
has been submitted to Government
for a further two years extension to 31st August, 1999.
TRAFFIC CONGESTION
Traffic congestion continues to adversely
affect the reliability of the Company's
services. We are glad to observe that
there was some improvement in the
latter part of 1989 after the opening of
the Eastern Harbour Crossing.
Movement to and from the Eastern
New Territories continues to be
seriously disrupted by the congestion at
the Lion Rock Tunnel. Traffic congestion resulting from traffic
bottlenecks, traffic accidents and road works still causes delays and service disruptions to many KMB bus routes.
車費調整
本公司需要增加收入以彌補通貨膨脹及
一九九零年度經營成本之上漲。本公司
已於一九八九年十一月二十九日向政府
提交申請,要求由一九九零年二月一日起
增加車費百份之十九。九巴獲准由
一九九零年三月十八日起調整車費平均約
百份之十五點三。鑑於車費調整後,
乘客人數將會減少,預計收入僅可增加
百份之十二點五。為應付此等情况,
本公司正採取適當措施以儘量降低經營
成本及合理配置巴士網,以便提高載客量
與效率。
延長專利權
目前本公司之專利權有效期至一九九七年
八月三十一日止。本公司已向政府申請
延長專利權兩年至一九九九年八月三十一
日,現正等待政府批准。
交通擠塞
交通擠塞仍然對本公司之服務質素造成
不利之影響。東區海底隧道於一九八九年 下半年度通車後,本公司很高興發現交通
情况已略有改善。獅子山隧道之擠塞仍
嚴重阻塞來往新界東部之交通。交通樽頸 地帶、交通意外及修路工程所引起之擠塞
仍對九巴多條巴士路線造成不利影響。
