CAPITAL STRUCTURE

As approved by the Shareholders at the Extraordinary General Meeting held on 8th June, 1988, a Bonus Issue of one fully paid share for every four shares held at the close of business on 25th May, 1988, was made during the year. As a result, 80,727,882 new

shares have been allotted and the relevant share certificates were sent to Shareholders on 22nd June, 1988.

In order to facilitate the foregoing

Bonus Issue, the authorised share

capital of the Company, as approved

by the Shareholders at the same Extraordinary General Meeting, was increased from $330 million to $410 million by the creation of 80 million. shares of $1 each.

FARE INCREASE

The Company's application for a fare increase was approved by the

Government to take effect on 29th

January, 1989. The reason for the fare

increase was that additional revenue

was needed to cover projected

increases in operating costs in 1989.

Under the new fare scale, 90 per

cent of KMB passengers pay an

additional 20 cents to 30 cents; nine per cent, an additional 40 to 60 cents and the remaining one per cent of passengers, mostly on long-distance express routes and air-conditioned

coach services, pay an additional 70 cents to $1.00.

For cross harbour bus services which are jointly operated with China Motor Bus Co., Ltd., fares on most routes increased from $2.80 to $3.00 before passing the tunnel and from $1.20 to $1.50 for the section after passing it.

根據一九八八年六月八日股東特別大會上

通過之議案,本公司在本年內已按照

一九八八年五月二十五日營業時間結束時 每持有四股可獲派一繳足股之比例派發

紅股,合共派發新股八千零七十二萬七千

八百八十二股,有關股票已於一九八八年

六月二十二日郵寄各股東。

爲派發上述紅股,股東已於同一股東

特別大會上通過決議,藉增設每股面值値

一元股份八千萬股,將本公司法定股本由 三億三千萬元增加至四億一千萬元。

增加車費

本公司增加車費之申請已獲政府批准,並

於一九八九年一月二十九日生效。增加

車費之理由是九巴需要額外收入以抵銷 估計於一九八九年增加之經營成本。

根據新收費表,百分之九十

之九巴乘客多付車資兩至三角:

百分之九多付四角至六角;其餘百分之一

主要乘搭長途特快線及冷氣豪華巴士

之乘客則多付車資七角至一元。

至於與中華汽車有限公司聯合經辦之

過海隧道巴士服務,大部份路線在經過 隧道前之收費由二元八角增加至三元,

而經過隧道後之收費則由一元二角增至

一元五角。
