RESULTS FOR 1987

I am pleased to report that the

Company's bus operating profits. attributable to shareholders for the

financial year ended 31st December,

1987, after the transfer to the Development Fund of a sum of $20.1 million in accordance with the provisions of the Scheme of Control, amounted to $234.8 million. This represents an increase of 24.3% over $188.9 million earned from bus operation in the

previous year. In addition to $188.9 million earned from bus operation, the Company in 1986 also earned an

extraordinary profit of $66.3 million

from the disposal of a pre-war depot in

Yuen Long. Earnings per share for the

year were 73 cents (1986:59 cents as

adjusted for the bonus issue made in

June, 1987 and before the

extraordinary item).

DIVIDEND

At the forthcoming Ordinary Yearly

Meeting, your Directors will re-

commend the payment of a final

dividend of 35 cents per share for the

year ended 31st December, 1987

(1986: 28 cents per share after

adjustment for the bonus issue made in

June,1987). An interim dividend of 15

cents per share was paid on 16th October, 1987(1986:12 cents per

share after adjustment for the bonus

issue made in June, 1987), therefore the

dividends for the year will amount to 50 cents per share totalling $161.5 million. For the year 1986, in addition to the dividends mentioned above, a special cash bonus of 8 cents per share after adjustment for the bonus issue made in June, 1987 had been paid as a

本人以欣悅心情宣佈截至一九八七年 十二月三十一日止之財政年度本公司股東 應佔經營巴士盈利,經扣除根據盈利管制 計劃規定撥往發展基金之二千零壹拾萬元 後為二億三千四百八十萬元。此數目 較去年經營巴士賺取之一億八千八百 九十萬元增加百分之二十四點三, 本公司在一九八六年除經營巴士 賺取一億八千八百九十萬元外,由於 出售在元朗一幢戰前車廠亦獲得非經常性 盈利六千六百三十萬元,本年度每股盈利 為七角三仙(按一九八七年六月派發紅股 而作調整後,一九八六年度未計非經 常性項目前之每股盈利為伍角九仙)。

股息

於即將舉行之股東週年大會上,董事會 將建議就截至一九八七年十二月三十一日 止年度派發末期息每股三角五仙

( 按一九八七年六月派發紅股作調整後, 一九八六年度為每股二角八仙)。 本年度中期息每股一角五仙

( 按一九八七年六月派發紅股作調整後, 一九八六年度為每股一角二仙 ),已於 一九八七年十月十六日派發。因此全年 派息為每股五角,即總數一億六千一百 五十萬元。一九八六年度除派發上述 股息外,亦由於出售一座位於元朗之戰前

車廠所獲之非經常性盈利而派發特別

現金紅利,按一九八七年六月派發紅股 作調整後為每股八仙。
