61. Australian Sleepers. A total of 2,789 hardwood sleepers were ordered from Australia this year through Messrs. Swire & Maclaine Ltd. but only 2,033 pieces arrived. Some 1,796 hard- wood sleepers which were ordered but not delivered last year were also received this year.
