71. Although, generally speaking, publicity of the Authority's activities is welcomed, it has been found from experience that great care must be taken over announcements of future schemes, which due to misunderstanding may result in much unnecessary work. For instance, in March 1961, when a press release about the Authority's activities was made, hundreds of inquiries were received about tenancies on the Ma Tau Wai Estate, as it had not been made sufficiently clear that the accommodation would not be ready for occupation until the end of 1961. These circumstances reflect the tremendous interest in low-cost housing by members of the public, both those already on the waiting list and potential applicants.
