Restrictions : Animal products; arms and ammunition; Austrian bank notes; bulbs; fruit; potatoes; plants and parts of plants; butane gas; foreign postage stamps; medicines; narcotics; precious metals; radio-active matter; radio appara- tus etc.; salt; spirits; tobacco and its products.
Documentation : Customs declarations should be accompanied by invoices (two copies) and any other necessary documents. Certificates of origin or import permits are required for certain other types of goods (but see Gift parcels below). In cases where import licences have to be obtained by the addressee, the sender should ascertain that the necessary documents are held before the parcel is despatched.
Gift parcels: Import licences are not in general required for gift parcels sent by private persons to private persons when the value does not exceed 500 Austrian schillings. Customs duties are not raised on foodstuffs, used clothing, or medicines sent to needy persons.
Packing and Marking: Parcels containing articles of celluloid must bear a white label with the words "CELLULOID-KEEP AWAY FROM FIRE” in plain black letters. See also Packing and Make-up in Section I of this Guide.
