Customs declarations and language: (1) and (8) Green label. (4) Two non- adhesive forms. Turkish or French as well as English. Calendars, paper patterns and certain fashion publications and photographs are liable to customs duty, and a green customs label must be affixed to all packets containing such articles. Prohibitions: Coffee in excess of 24 lb. per month to the same person; news- papers, periodicals and other printed matter prohibited by Turkish Government decree.
Restrictions apply to the importation of: Letters or packets containing deeds, shares, warrants and so on, as well as those containing Turkish currency, including cheques or drafts made out in Turkish money; bank-notes; coin, gold, jewellery, platinum, precious stones and silver; plants and parts of plants; saccharin; seeds. Invoice: A certified invoice should accompany all printed items (books, journals etc.) sent to commercial firms, and a certificate of origin must be sent with printed items other than daily newspapers.
Address: The country of destination must be shown as Turkey without any alternatives or additions such as Asia Minor, Armenia and so on. Obsolete place names such as Constantinopole, Angora, Adalia, Pera, must not be used but the correct names, Istanbul, Ankara, Antalva, Beyoglu should be employed.
