RATES OF POSTAGE
Commercial Papers for Hong Kong, China and Macau are admissible at the Printed Paper rate of 5 cents for the first 1 ounce and 5 cents for each additional 2 ozs. or part of 2 ozs.
All other destinations.
40 cents for the first
ounces, 10 cents for each additional
2 ozs. or part of 2 ozs.
WEIGHT AND SIZE
The limits of weight are:
British Commonwealth, territories under British Trusteeship, British Postal Agencies in Bahrain, Muscat, Qatar, the Trucial States and the Irish Republic. 5 lb.
All other countries. 4 lb.
The limits of size are:
British Commonwealth, territories under British Trusteeship, British Postal Agencies in Bahrain, Muscat, Qatar, the Trucial States and the Irish Republic. 2 feet in length, 18 inches in width, 18 inches in depth.
All other countries. 3 feet in length, width and depth combined, but the greatest dimension must not excced 2 feet.
Minimum
All destinations. 4 inches in length, 24 inches in width. Smaller sized items may be admitted if they bear a rectangular address label of cardboard or strong paper of which the two adjacent sides measure not less than 64 inches and the smaller side not less than 1 inches.
Packets in the form of a roll
Maximum
All destinations. The length and twice the diameter combined must not exceed 3 feet 3 inches, and the greatest dimension must not exceed 2 feet 8 inches.
Minimum
All destinations. Length plus twice the diameter not less than 64 inches with greatest dimension not less than 4 inches. Smaller sized items may be admitted if they bear a rectangular address label of cardboard or strong paper of which the two adjacent sides measure not less than 64 inches and the smaller side not less than 14 inches.
DEFINITION
Commercial papers comprise all papers and all documents wholly or partly written or drawn, not having the character of current and personal correspondence.
MAKE-UP
Packets of commercial papers should be clearly marked in the upper left-hand corner of the address side Commercial Papers. They are subject to examination in the post. and must be made up in such a way that they can be easily examined. They may be placed in a wrapper, upon a roller, between boards, in an open container, or in an unclosed envelope furnished with blunt clips easy to unfasten and refasten, or they may be secured with a string easy to untie.
Because of the risk of other packets being entrapped when open covers are used, posters are reminded that embarrassing packets generally are prohibited from the post and are recommended to use the type of cover suggested in the paragraph headed “Trap" packets under, "Prohibitions, Embarrassing Packets”.
