Restrictions: The addressee will be required to furnish an import licence for letters, printed papers, samples and Small Packets containing articles sent as merchandise. Restrictions also apply to the importation of coin, bank-notes, securities payable to bearer, gold bullion and articles manufactured mainly of gold; certain meats and meat products; plants and fruit; tobacco.

Address: Correspondence should be addressed in the usual way. If addressed in Russian, Chinese, Korean or Japanese, it must bear an interlined translation in English of the post town, island and country of destination.

Packing and marking: Parcels containing articles of celluloid must be clearly marked in red with the word Celluloid.

Import licence: The importation of parcels containing merchandise is subject. to the production of an import licence by the addressee. A licence is not, however, required for relief parcels containing limited quantities of foodstuffs, medicines, clothes and clothing materials sent to charitable institutions such as orphanages and old people's homes. In addition gift parcels containing clothing, foodstuffs, household articles, etc. sent to individuals for their personal use and not for trade purposes; samples not exceeding 180,000 yen in value sent for the purpose of soliciting business; and cultural materials are also admitted without an import licence.

Air Parcels: Parcels forwarded by air to Japan should be endorsed "For internal air conveyance" or "NOT for internal air conveyance", the charge for such service is about HK 70 cents per Kilo.

Address: Parcels for United States A.P.O. addresses outside Japan cannot be accepted unless the correct localities are shown.
