of Customs and Excise in addition to bearing the full name and address of the addressee and a declaration that the contents are of no commercial value. A Post Office fee of 1s. Od. for clearance through the Customs will be charged on each packet on which customs duty is levied.

Hops. Packages not exceeding 16 oz. gross weight will be delivered free of duty. Playing Cards, Packages containing one or two packs only will be delivered free of duty provided that one of the corners of each card has been cut to the extent of half an inch along the side and end.

Spirits (except perfumed spirits). Packages each not exceeding 12 oz. gross weight will be delivered on payment of duty at a flat rate of 9s. 6d. cach package.

Sugar. Sugar and sugar confectionery in quantities and under conditions similar to those stated under Chicory above.

Tea. Packages not exceeding 8 oz. gross weight will be delivered free of duty. Textiles. These may be imported subject to the following conditions:--

The gross weight of each packet must not exceed 16 oz. Only one sample of the same range and colour may be sent to each addressee and each packet must be plainly marked c/o The Officer of Customs and Excise in addition to bearing the full name and address of the addressee.

Duty will be waived in the following cases:

Waste of man-made fibres and yarns not exceeding 4 oz. Fabrics, including narrow woven fabrics, braids and ornamental trimmings in lengths not exceeding 1 yard irrespective of width from selvedge to selvedge. Ribbons in lengths not exceeding 21 yards provided they are snipped at intervals of not more than 9 inches. Make-up articls provided they are so mutilated or defaced as to be obviously irreparable and of no saleable value.

Waste of man-made fibres, yarns, fabrics, including narrow woven fabrics, braids and ornamental trimmings and make-up articles exceeding the above limit but not over 16 oz. gross weight will be charged with the appropriate duty. Each packet must show plainly particulars of the value, net weight and (for silk and fabrics of man-made fibre) the square yardage. A Post Office fee of 1s. Od. for clearance through the Customs will be charged on each packet on which customs duty is levied.

Tobacco. Type samples of unmanufactured tobacco in packages each not ex- ceeding 6 oz. gross weight will be delivered on payment of duty at a flat rate of £1 35. 7 d. each package.

Wine. Packages each not exceeding 12 oz. gross weight will be delivered free of duty.

All other goods liable to duty under the Import Duties Act, 1958. Packets con- taining articles which are genuine trade samples of goods liable to duty under the Import Duties Act, 1958 (G.B.), may be imported free of duty subject to the following conditions:

The samples must be supplied free of charge and not have any saleable value, if necessary being effectively disfigured or mutilated. Only one sample of the same description, brands, colour or variety may be sent to each addressee. Samples of different brands or varieties of the same description of article, or articles of different descriptions, may however be imported in the same packet. The samples must not be for copying or similar use in manufacture for the United Kingdom market.

Goods other than Trade Samples admitted by sample post. Packets containing the undermentioned dutiable articles are also admitted by sample post provided that each packet is plainly marked c/o The Officer of Customs and Excise and bears the full name and address of the addressee. Customs duty at the appropriate rate will be charged. A Post Office fee of 1s. Od. for clearance through the Customs will be charged on each packet on which customs duty is levied.

Bees.

Medicines urgently required and difficult to obtain.

Printers' plates. Each packet must be plainly marked "Printers' Plates".

Serum and vaccine. Serum or vaccine in tubes, rendered harmless by the method of preparation and packing.
