The importation of many other classes of goods into Colombia including the islands of San Andres and Providencia is subject to certain restrictions and controls; and the importer may be required to register the transaction in the Office of Exchange Registration, in which event evidence of registration may have to be produced by the exporter when applying for a consular invoice. Invoice: An invoice in quadruplicate on a form certified by a Colombian consul is required in respect of packets containing goods over 100 pesos in value. commercial invoice, numbered, certified and signed by the sender, must accompany each packet containing books and reviews of a commercial nature, For packets containing such goods the invoice must show the contents of each packet individually, the value of each item, the number of packets comprising the consignment and the gross weight. The invoice must show the total value in dollars or any other currency agreed upon by the sender and addressee. One copy of the invoice should be sent to the Post Office of destination. A note must be made on each packet of the number of books contained therein, its weight and the total number of packets comprising the consignment. Note: Ordinary or registered items of correspondence, not reclaimed, containing articles liable to Customs charges, are taken over by the Customs Authorities of Colombia, and may not, under any circumstances, be returned to origin.

Customs declaration and language: Two non-adhesive forms and despatch note. Declarations must show the gross weight, net weight in kilogrammes and the value not increased by costs of transmission or insurance. When one set of customs declaration forms is used for a batch of two or three (not more) parcels from the same sender to the same addressee, the required particulars, with the relative serial number of the parcel, must be shown separately for each parcel. Spanish or French as well as English.
Prohibitions: Letters, arms, parts of arms and ammunition; coin of silver, copper or nickel; Colombian postage or fiscal stamps; saccharin, except under permit; spirits and liqueurs. Many other goods are at present prohibited.
Gift parcels: There are no concessions for gift parcels and most goods likely to be sent as gifts are at present prohibited. In other cases an import licence must be obtained in advance by the addressee who would also have to pay the necessary customs duty on the arrival of the parcel in Colombia.
