Overseas Post 77

Incoming parcels. Incoming cash on delivery parcels will be notified in the same way as ordinary and insured parcels and the period of retention and demurrage charges will be the same.

A cash on delivery parcel will not be given up or allowed to be opened by the addressee until the amount of the trade charge and any other charges due bave been paid.

A delivery fee of 20 cents in addition to the amount of the trade charge, is collected from the addressee of a cash on delivery parcel. A receipt for the trade charge plus delivery fee is given. When a trade charge has been collected, the Post Office undertakes the responsibility of remitting the amount to the sender of the parcel; and, therefore, a trade charge, once collected is no circumstances refunded to the addressee.

DELIVERY ABROAD

In some countries a small fee is charged for delivery.

In a number of countries parcels have to be collected from the Post Office by the addressees. Where this is the case the local Post Office, or other concern handling postal parcels, may notify the addressee when a parcel is available for collection.

Such information as is available will be found under the country headings.

Enquiries regarding disposal or delay to a parcel for abroad should be made by means of form P64, which is obtainable at any Post Office. A $1.00 postage stamp must be affixed to the form.

DELIVERY

INCOMING PARCELS

Parcels from other countries are not delivered to the addressee at his residence or business premises. Notice of arrival of a parcel is sent to the addressee, who must then claim it at the post office at which it is held.

Any parcel remaining unclaimed after a period of 10 days of the posting of a notifica- tion of arrival shall be liable to a demurrage charge of $2.00. If not collected after 20 days it may be removed to the Returned Parcel Office and if after that time it has not been returned to sender or otherwise disposed of, it may be recalled on payment of a further charge of $2.00. An unclaimed parcel bearing an alternative address provided by the sender will after the expiry of 20 days be offered for delivery to the alternative address, demurrage charges raised against the first-addressee will be cancelled and the parcel treated as a new arrival. A receipt will be given for charges collected.

Demurrage charges imposed on undelivered parcels cannot be evaded by local redirec- tion to another address or to another delivery office.

A parcel received in the Colony addressed care of Post Office or Poste Restante will be retained for a period of two months before being treated as undeliverable or abandoned. Such a parcel will be liable to demurrage charges as indicated above. If, however, during this period or during the period of retention at a post office the contents of a parcel become or are likely to become worthless through natural decay, or are found to be offensive or injurious, they are liable to be disposed of forthwith.

Customs duty on goods imported by post is calculated in accordance with the customs tariff for the time being in force and any enquiry regarding the customs charges raised should be addressed to the Commerce and Industry Department and should be accompanied by that portion of the cover which bears the address and customs declaration label.

Import licences, etc. Certain goods require the production of an import licence before delivery can be effected, all enquiries in this matter should be directed to the Import Licensing Officer, Commerce and Industry Department.

Dangerous drugs will not be delivered until such a time as the addressee produces a form "C" (Import authorization issued by the Medical Department),
