Declarations should show the Post Office serial number of the parcel and the country of origin of the contents. In the case of a gift parcel, each declaration and the despatch note, as well as the parcel itself, should be conspicuouly marked Gift Parcel. One non-adhesive form and despatch note for insured parcels.
Prohibitions: Letters; arms (except sporting guns and ammunition); artificial wine essence; butane gas lighters and refills; cigarette papers; foreign military uniforms; printed matter (periodicals, books etc.) which is prohibited from admission and circulation in Yugoslavia. (Items printed abroad intended for distribution are admitted only when addressed to authorized distributors in Yugoslavia); Yugoslav money.
Restrictions: Copies of plans; fruit; gold, silver, platinum, jewellery and precious stones; meat products; patent medicines and drugs; plants, parts of plants and seeds; radio and telephone apparatus. The importation of most classes of goods is subject to the production of an import licence and senders are advised to confirm before posting that a licence if required, has been obtained by the addressee.
Gift Parcels: Customs duty is raised on most articles sent as gifts to private persons, but not on medicaments and orthopaedic aids for which a medical certificate is held by the addressee.
Compensation is not payable for damage to parcels containing liquids, fragile articles or perishable goods if the damage occurs in the Italian service.
