Restrictions apply to the importation of: Cosmetics; perfumes; personal ornaments; tobacco, cigars and cigarettes. In addition, the sample service is restricted to trade samples of no intrinsic value or use sent solely for advertising purposes. All other articles are subject to Customs duty and must be sent by parcel post.
Insurance: Articles admissible for importation by insured letter and boxes are as follows:-(a) Bank Notes, except New Taiwan Dollar Notes; (b) Valuable Documents or securities; (c) Precious metals, precious stones and pearls and articles manufactured with precious metals, precious stones or pearls, for personal use not exceeding US$10.00 in value.

Prohibitions: Letters; new bank-notes in Taiwan dollar; arms and ammunition; books, pictures etc., of pro Communist nature; forged banknotes and bonds and forged stamps such as postal or revenue stamps; narcotics; toys and articles in the shape of a gun; articles for gambling; obscene or indecent pictures, books etc. Import licences: The importation of all commercial parcels is subject to the production of an import licence by the addressees. Exceptionally, (i) samples of merchandise of no commercial value, (ii) controlled and temporarily prohibited articles intended for personal use or sent as gifts, of a value of less than U.S. $10 per parcel, and (iii) permissible imports intended for personal use or sent as gifts, of a value not exceeding U.S. $25, are admitted without a licence.
Invoice: A copy of the relative invoice with a detailed description of the contents should be enclosed in each commercial parcel.
Addresss: Delivery is facilitated in the case of a parcel for a Chinese addressee of the name and address are written in Chinese as well as English on the parcel and custom declaration. All commercial parcels must be consigned through the Bank of Taiwan.
