weight. For registered or unregistered packets, the invoice must show the total value in dollars or any other currency agreed upon by the sender and addressee. One copy of the invoice should be sent to the Post Office of destination. A note must be made on each packet (whether registered or unregistered) of the number of books contained therein, its weight and the total number of packets comprising the consignment.

Customs declaration and language: Two non-adhesive forms and despatch note. Declarations must show the gross weight, net weight in kilogrammes and the value not increased by costs of transmission or insurance. When one set of customs declaration forms is used for a batch of two or three (not more) parcels from the same sender to the same addressee, the required particulars, with the relative serial number of the parcel, must be shown separately for each parcel. Spanish or French as well as English.
Prohibitions: Letters; arms of all kinds, posts of arms, powder and ammunition except under permit; coin of silver, copper or nickel: Colombian postage or fiscal stamps; saccharin, except under permit; spirits and liqueurs. Certain other goods are at present prohibited.
Restrictions apply to the importation of: Boxes or packets of cigarettes and pressed tobacco; patent medicines; plants, including seeds.
The importation of many classes of goods into Colombia is subject to certain restrictions and controls.
Invoice: A consular invoice, in quadruplicate, is required in respect of all parcels containing goods valued at more than 100 pesos. All consular invoices must show the value of the goods in both sterling and United States dollars. Delivery: Parcels are not delivered to the place of address. The addressees are notified of the arrival of parcels and advised to collect them either from the local Customs Depot or local Post Office according to whether the goods are dutiable or not.
