PROHIBITED ARTICLES
Prohibited articles, if tendered for transmission, will be refused, or, if detected in transit, detained. They will be dealt with in such a manner as the Post Office thinks fit, and the sender in some cases is liable to prosection.
LETTER POST
It is prohibited to send by post:
Certain advertisements, tickets and documents.
1. Betting advertisements, if relating to an illegal business. 2. Fortune-telling documents.
3. Lottery tickets or advertisements except those relating to
lotteries directed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
4. Moneylenders' circulars if sent unsolicited.
Dangerous, offensive and indecent articles.
5. Dangerous articles, including explosives, certain inflammable, corrosive, noxious or deleterious, or otherwise harmful substances and sharp instruments not properly protected; matches; Christmas crackers, however, are admitted.

Filth.
7. Indecent, obscene, immoral or grossly offensive communications, seditious matter, marks, designs, prints, photographs or other articles.
Bullion, Coin, paper money and postage stamps.

Counterfeit bank or currency notes and postage stamps.
Current coin.
Gold or silver bullion.
Celluloid and films.
11. Celluloid, liquid and unseasoned raw (that is, containing volatile
solvent), sometimes called xylonite cake.
12. Celluloid, seasoned raw (that is, free from all volatile solvent), and articles of celluloid not packed in the prescribed manner. 13. Films, cinematograph and photographic, not packed in the
prescribed manner.
Articles subject to packing regulations:
14. Packets inadequately packed, which are likely to damage other
postal packets or cause injury to officers of the Post Office. 15. Perishable articles, anything liable to become offensive or injurious through decay during the time ordinarily occupied in transmission, unless sent in a hermetically sealed tin.
16. Liquids unless packed in the prescribed manner.
