Gift parcels: The contents must be limited to essential relief items such as clothing, medicines and non-perishable foodstuffs; soap is not permitted to be included in gift parcels. Both parcel and Customs declaration must be clearly marked Gift Parcel, unsolicited gift. Undelivered gift parcels are used for general relief in Japan.

Trade samples: Parcels containing trade samples must be accompanied by a Customs declaration showing the character of the articles and that they are trade samples.

Import licences: Commercial parcels must be accompanied by a certificate or photostatic copy of the relative import licence and the words Import Licence enclosed must be endorsed on the cover. Celluloid: Parcels containing articles of celluloid must be clearly labelled celluloid in red.

Address: If the address is in Japanese an interlined translation in English of the post town, island and the country of destination must be made.
