PROHIBITIONS: letters, the importation of a wide range of general merchandise is at present prohibited, and senders are advised, in their own interest, to ascertain before posting whether their goods are admissible. A complete list of prohibitions cannot be given, but includes certain classes of goods included within the following categories: arms, bank-notes, candles, chemical and pharmaceutical products, clocks, watches, clothing, coin, dyes, electrical goods, food, games, glassware, haberdashery, lamps, tobacco of all kinds, rubber, wireless apparatus etc.
ROUTE: must be indicated on the parcel and despatch note.
PACKING: parcels must be packed in wood, tin, canvas, linen or similar
material, and must be sealed with a distinctive device.
DELIVERY: additional charges for conveyance from the Iranian frontier are
collected from the addressee.
SIZE: parcels may not exceed two feet in length breadth or depth, and four
feet in length and girth combined.
PROHIBITIONS: letters, except one for the addressee; arms and parts of arms, except sporting guns (admitted under permit); woven goods bearing designs in imitation of paper money, and so on; unmanufactured tobacco. RESTRICTIONS apply to the importation of cotton and cotton seeds; drugs and chemical supplies; liqueurs, wines and spirits; plants, parts of plants and bulbs; serums.
ROUTE must be indicated on the parcel and despatch note. INSURANCE only as far as Amara, Baghdad, Baghdad Cantonment, Baghdad al Rashid (Lower Baghdad), Basra, Hillah, Kerbala, Khanaquin, Kirkuk, Kut, Kuwait Ma'qil, Mosul, Najaf, Ramadi and Sin-al-Dhibban P.O.
