The parcel must be handed in at the General Post Office, where the sender must obtain a receipt of post- ing, of which the production may be required as a condition of payment of the Trade Charge Money Order.
It is permissible for the sender to give instructions, at the time of posting that the parcel is either to be treated as abandoned or tendered at a second address in the country of destination if it proves to be undeli- verable to the first address. If the sender desires to avail himself of this facility, his request must be writ- ten on the parcel and must be in one of the following forms:-
If undeliverable as addressed, abandon. If undeliverable as addressed, deliver.

A request for delivery at a second address without payment of the Trade Charge cannot be admitted. All undeliverable Cash on Delivery parcels, unless the sender has requested their abandonment, are returned to the sender at his expense without previous notifica- tion.
A delivery fee of 4d. in addition to the amount of the Trade Charge, is collected from the addressee of a cash on delivery parcel addressed to the United King- dom, 15 cents for a parcel addressed to the Straits Settlements and 10 cents for a parcel addressed to Macao. The amount of the Trade Charge collected is remitted to the sender of the parcel without deduction.

When a Cash on Delivery parcel is received in Hong Kong a notice of its arrival stating the amount due will be sent to the addressee, and the parcel will be kept at the General Post Office to be called for. It will be held at the disposal of the addressee for 15 days, exclusive of the day of arrival, before being treated as undeliverable, unless it has been marked by the sender for delivery to a second address in the event of its proving to be undeliverable to the original addressee. In the latter case the parcel will be held at the disposal of the first addressee for a period of 15 days, and, if delivery is not effected within that period, the parcel will then be offered to the second addressee and held at his disposal for a period of six days before being treated as finally undeliverable.
