Social Activities

110. The most notable social event of the year was the Annual Children's Party for children of all the staff of the Department. This was held on 16th January, 1972. About 700 children were entertained by guest artists and film, television and radio personalities. The func- tion provided some timely entertainment for the staff after the busy Christmas period.

Miniature Football Hogarth Shield

111. Football continues to be a popular sport among the staff. Seventeen teams took part in the Hogarth Shield competition this year, and the shield was won by the Registration and Parcels 'B' team, with Hong Kong Postmen 'A' as runners-up.

Tennis

112. One team entered the 'C' Division of the Hong Kong Lawn Tennis League and was placed 3rd.

CONCLUSION

113. The most valuable assets any organization possesses are its people. In the Introduction to this Report I paid tribute to the loyalty, endeavour and co-operation of the Post Office staff at all levels and it is fitting that I should conclude with my sincere thanks to them for all that they have done to improve the efficiency of the service to the people of Hong Kong.
