Adjustment of Hours of Attendance
18. In mid-January the hours of attendance of the Department's clerical staff were reduced from the traditional 48 hours to 44 to be the same as for the General Clerical Service. This necessitated filling a number of extra posts which had been provided to cover the reduction.
General
FINANCE
19. Revenue collected by the Department amounted to $143,651,882.07, an increase of 18.4% over the preceding year. The sales of duty stamps amounting to $5,681,680.35 was 6.5% more than sales in 1968-69. Postage stamps and meter impressions utilized to pay the fees on Certificates of Origin totalled $5,146,535.00. 20. Expenditure during the year amounted to $80,705,868.85. The increase over 1968-69 was in part due to salary awards effective from the 1st April, 1969, but principally to increased airmail conveyance payments which rose by 15.6% over the preceding year.
21. Payments made for telephone services provided for Government Departments amounted to $3,208,572.46, some $9,000 more than in the preceding year.
