35. In addition, collections from the sale of duty stamps totalled $5,020,536.45. Included in the proceeds from postage stamp sales, amounting to $58,385,343.33, is $4,761,780 in respect of fees for Certi- ficates of Origin issued by the Department of Commerce and Industry.
36. Expenditure in the year amounted to $55,755,228.60. The in- crease of $1,841,377.72 over the previous year was due in the main to increased payments in respect of salaries, surface mail conveyance and parcel post payments to other administrations.
37. Payments made on behalf of Government Departments for telephone services amounted to $3,189,222.22.
38. The business turnover, including money orders, postal orders, etc. was $221,985,170.97.
Wireless Licences
39. Telecommunications licences of all types issued during the year produced a total of $1,016,877.00.
Remittance Services
40. There were variations in the totals of remittances by the money order and postal order services compared with 1966-67 and commission earned on the remittance services was $217,440.36, a decline of $2,178.29.

Stamp Vendors
41. At the 31st March, 1968 a total of 425 stamp vendor licences were in force, an increase of 20 over the previous year.
Stamps
42. One special issue of stamps comprising two denominations was released on the 23rd January, 1968 to commemorate the Lunar New Year of the Monkey. Sales were of the 10 cent value 3,575,000 and of the $1.30 value 425,000. Approximately 100,000 official first day covers were sold.
