STAFF

8. The total authorized establishment of the Post Office at the close of the year was 1,675 (excluding supernumeraries), an increase of 152 over the preceding year. 733 posts were pensionable.

9. The difficulty in recruiting clerical staff eased perceptibly and there were occasions for the first time in years when the clerical establishment was full.

10. The turnover in staff through resignations, transfers etc. was only 121 which, in comparison with the preceding year, indicates a drop of 42.

Conferences

11. Mr. A. G. CROOK, Postmaster General, left the Colony for London on 21.4.65 and 27.2.66 to attend conferences of the Common- wealth Telecommunications Board and returned on 17.5.65 and 24.3.66 respectively. He also left for Switzerland on 9.10.65 to attend an International Telecommunications Union Conference and returned on 3.11.65.

12. Mr. C. G. FOLWELL, Deputy Postmaster General, left the Colony for Manila on 5.12.65. to attend the First Congress of the Asian Oceanic Postal Union as Hong Kong observer, and returned on 17.12.65.

Senior Staff Appointments

13. Mr. J. P. HORGAN was appointed as Assistant Controller (Tele- communications) Class I on agreement and arrived in the Colony on

5.4.65.

14. Mr. F. L. DAY was appointed as Controller of Posts on agree- ment and arrived in the Colony on 15.11.65.

15. Mr. R. F. SWALLOW was appointed as Controller (Telecommuni- cations) on agreement and arrived in the Colony on 21.11.65.

Leave

16. Mr. C. G. FOLWELL, Deputy Postmaster General, was absent from the Colony on vacation leave from 21.4.65 to 5.10.65.

17. Mr. G. A. CUPPLEDITCH, Senior Controller of Posts (Traffic), returned from vacation leave on 17.4.65.
