When the proposed scheme for alterations to the General Post Office, following the removal of Cable and Wireless and other Departments from the building, is put into action the present congestion will be greatly relieved to the Public and Departmental convenience.
Stamp cancelling machines are now on order and will when received, supersede the present slow and tiring process of hand stamping.
Radio Licensing and Inspection.
Commencing 1st May 1949 facilities were made avail- able at certain sub-post offices in the Colony whereby members of the Public residing in outlying districts could obtain Broad- cast Receiving Licences through those sub-offices.
On March 1st 1950 this office re-assumed responsibility for the survey of ship and aircraft radio stations.
This function had formerly been included with other Telecommunication Services transferred to Messrs. Cable and Wireless Ltd.
