PART I

PRELIMINARY

1. These regulations may be cited as the Legislative Council (Electoral Provisions) (Registration of Electors and Appointment of Authorized Representatives) Regulations.

Citation.

2. In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires

Interpretation.

"address" means-

(a) in relation to a person who is an individual, the residential address of that person;

(b) in relation to any other person, the registered office or principal place of business in Hong Kong of that person;

"authorized representative" means any individual appointed by an elector under Part VI to be an authorized representative;

"District" has the meaning assigned to it in the District Boards Ordinance;

"provisional register" means the provisional register compiled under regulation 3;

"working day" means any day other than a general holiday or a Saturday.

3. The registration officer shall in accordance with these regulations-

(a) compile and publish a provisional register in respect of every electoral college constituency and functional constituency before 22 June in each year; and

(b) compile and publish a final register for each year in respect of all such constituencies before 7 August in that year.

4. (1) A register shall be divided into the same number of separate parts as there are constituencies and shall contain the particulars of all persons who are registered as electors and, in the case of electors other than individuals, their authorized representatives.
