INDUSTRIAL TRAINING (CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY)

To establish the Construction Industry Training Authority, to pro- vide for facilities for the training of persons employed in the construction industry and for a levy to be paid by contractors in respect of construction works.

PART I

PRELIMINARY

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Industrial Training Short title. (Construction Industry) Ordinance.

2. (1) In this Ordinance, unless the context otherwise requires--

"Authority" means the Construction Industry Training Authority

established by section 4;

"authorized person" means→→→

(a) in relation to building or street works not carried out by or on behalf of the Crown, the authorized person appointed under section 4 of the Buildings Ordinance;

(b) in relation to construction works carried out by or on behalf of the Crown, the person appointed under section 34(1);

(c) in relation to other construction works, the person appoint-

ed under section 34(2);

"building works" has the meaning assigned to it in section 2(1) of the

Buildings Ordinance;

"chairman" means the chairman of the Authority appointed under

section 8;

"construction industry" means the industry in which building works

or construction works are carried out;

"contractor" means-

(a) in relation to building or street works not carried out by or on behalf of the Crown, the person appointed as contrac- tor under section 9 of the Buildings Ordinance;

(b) in relation to construction works carried out by or on behalf of the Crown, the person carrying out the construc- tion works;

(c) in relation to other construction works, the person carry-

ing out the construction works;
