STATUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY.

In these statutes-

STATUTE 1.

Interpretation.

"Ordinance" means the University Ordinance;

"University", "statutes", "Court", "Council", "Senate", "Chancellor", "Vice-Chancellor", "Registrar" and "good cause" shall have respectively, as nearly as may be, the same meanings as they have in the Ordinance;

"academic year" means such period, not exceeding twelve consecutive months, and "term" and "academic term" mean such part of an academic year, as the Senate shall from time to time determine.

The time, place and procedure of congregations of the whole University shall be determined by the Chancellor,

3. No degree in medicine or surgery shall be conferred on any person who has not completed a five years' course of study at a University or other place of learning, including at least two years at the University of Hong Kong; and no degree in any other faculty shall be conferred on any person who has not completed a four years' course of study at a University or other place of learning, including at least one year at the University of Hong Kong.
