1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Railways Ordinance.

Short title.

2. In this Ordinance-

"administrator" means the manager or such other person as the Governor may appoint to conduct the affairs of any railway. So long as any railway is in course of construction, it includes the chief resident engineer or such other person as the Governor may appoint to supervise the said construction;

"assistant manager" means the person appointed by the Governor to act as assistant manager of a railway; "manager" means the person appointed by the Governor to act as manager of a railway;

"railway" means a railway or any portion of a railway for the public carriage of passengers, animals or goods, and includes-

(a) all land with the fences or other boundary marks indicating the limits of the land appurtenant to a railway;

(b) all lines of rails, sidings or branches worked over for the purposes of or in connexion with a railway;

(c) all stations, offices, warehouses, wharves, workshops, manufactories, fixed plant, and machinery, and other works constructed for the purposes of or in connexion with a railway;

(d) all ferries, ships, boats and craft which are used for the traffic of a railway and belong to or are hired or worked by or by the authority of the administrator;

(e) any railway or portion of a railway in process of construction, and
