[r. 174 cont.] way, passageway or vestibule during the performance of a stage play, or who obstructs any police or other officer in the discharge of the duties imposed on him by these regulations or otherwise, shall upon summary conviction be liable to a fine of twenty-five dollars.
Cancellation of licence.
Special powers of police.
175. The licensing authority shall, subject to the approval of the Governor in Council, have power at all times by notice in writing forthwith to cancel any licence without payment of any compensation, upon being satisfied that any of the conditions of the licence have not been complied with or that there has been disorder at or upon premises or that the performance of any public entertainment is or has been offensive to good manners or decorum or calculated to corrupt public morals. Any holder of a licence who continues the performance of any public entertainment after the receipt of such notice shall be liable upon summary conviction to a fine of one thousand dollars. Any police officer not under the rank of Assistant Superintendent shall also have power to close, in person, any performance if, in his discretion, he considers it necessary in the interests of peace and good order to do so.
176. When it appears to the Commissioner of Police, or to any police officer not under the rank of Assistant Superintendent, that by reason of any breach of these regulations or for any other reason whatsoever, it is necessary for the safety or preservation of any person or any property, or the avoidance of any casualty, or the prevention or discontinuance of any disorder, or the prevention or discontinuance of any public entertainment offensive to good manners or decorum or calculated to corrupt public morals so to do, it shall be lawful for him and for any police officer specially authorized by the Commissioner of Police in that behalf to order, in person, that any place of public entertainment be temporarily closed or vacated, and upon such order every member of any audience, and every other person whosoever, shall forthwith comply with such order in an orderly manner. Furthermore, it shall be lawful for the Commissioner of Police, and for any police officer not under the rank of Assistant Superintendent or authorized as aforesaid, to take, in person or under his personal superintendence, such steps with a view to removal
