To amend the law as to the Moneys of Suitors paid into the Supreme Court.
1. The Suitors' Funds Ordinance, 1896.
[18th April, 1896.]
2.-(1) Subject to rules to be made under this Ordinance, all moneys paid into the Supreme Court shall, unless required by any enactment to be dealt with in any particular way, or unless directed by any order of Court to be invested, be placed by the Registrar of the Court on deposit with the Treasurer,
(2) Such moneys shall, subject to such rules, bear interest at the rate of 2 per centum per annum to be paid by the Government, which shall be liable for the moneys so placed on deposit and for the interest.
3. The Treasurer shall, on the requisition of the Registrar, pay out of the moneys belonging to the Government in his hands such sums as may be required to meet the orders of the Court with regard to the moneys so placed on deposit and the interest thereon.
4. The Chief Justice may, with the concurrence of the Governor, make rules for carrying this Ordinance into effect and regulating the deposit, payment, delivery, and transfer in, into, and out of the Supreme Court of money, securities, and movable property of suitors and the evidence of such deposit, payment, delivery, or transfer.
