TELEGRAPHIC MESSAGES.

(3) For the purposes of this section--- (a) the expression telegram means a written or printed message or communication sent to or delivered at a post office, or the office of a telegraph company, for transmission by telegraph, or delivered by the post office or a telegraph company as a message or communication transmitted by telegraph; and

(b) the expression "telegraph company" means any company, corporation, or persons carrying on the business of sending telegrams for the public, under whatever authority or in whatever manner such company, corporation, or persons may act or be constituted.

To prevent the Sketching of Defences.

1. The Defences (Sketching Prevention) Ordinance, 1895.

1.-In this Ordinance "sketch" includes any sketch, drawing, photograph, picture or painting; and "battery" includes any battery, fieldwork, or fortification, or any portion thereof, within the Colony or the waters thereof.

2.-(1) It shall not be lawful for any person, whether a British subject or an alien, to make or have in his possession, custody, or control, any sketch of any battery without the permission in writing of the Governor.

Penalty.

(2) Such permission shall clearly and expressly state the nature of the sketches which may be made or possessed by the person to whom such permission is given, and the place at which such sketches may be made.

3. Every person who contravenes the provisions of the last section shall, on summary conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 500 dollars, or to imprisonment for any term not exceeding 3 months; and further, all such sketches shall be liable to forfeiture.
