Every person who, with intent to defraud, forges or alters, or Forging sum- offers, utters, disposes of, or puts off, knowing the same to be forged mons, etc., of or altered, any summons, conviction, order, or warrant of any Justice 24 & 25 Vict. of the Peace, or any recognizance, purporting to have been entered c. 98 s. 32. into before any Justice of the Peace or other officer authorized to take the same, or any examination, deposition, affidavit, affirmation, or solemn declaration taken or made before any Justice of the Peace or any Commissioner appointed to administer oaths, shall be guilty of felony, and, being convicted thereof, shall be liable, at the discretion of the Court, to imprisonment with hard labour for the term of three years or to imprisonment for any term not exceeding two years, with or without hard labour and with or without solitary confinement.

(2.) offers, utters, disposes of, or puts off any such certificate, report, entry, licence, permit, indorsement, direction, authority, instrument, or writing, knowing the same to be forged or altered, shall be guilty of felony, and, being convicted thereof, shall be liable, at the discretion of the Court, to imprisonment with hard labour for any term not exceeding fourteen years and not less than three years or to imprisonment for any term not exceeding two years, with or without hard labour and with or without solitary confinement.
